England clinch thrilling victory with a bit-of-alright, 'Freddie' Flintoff

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Edgbaston, the cricket ground of Birmingham, and kixxa's home-town. I've sat and watched cricket there with a Pakistani family my father knew, and ate samosas that tasted like heaven itself. I've watched Gower there (the Left-hand of God) and 'Beefy' Botham, and the fidgetty Derek Randall. Watched Graham Gooch... But that was bloody years ago, when England knew how to play cricket, and now finally...

'Freddie' Flintoff!!! -- who claimed, rather modestly, that once he had the pain-killing injection in his bum, he was good to go again.

But winning by two runs was cutting it a bit fine guys...

Dude, you *so* have to come down here this summer. Cricket! Tennis! Cycling! PADDLEBOATING!

*does not know what this thing 'subtlety' is*

Yes, I'm the classic sports-potato as far as watching goes. But, aren't you moving from your retro house rather soonish? *whimpers*

Probably not for at least six months, now (I really should update on that).

But hey, even if we are moving... well, we (hopefully) won't be living on the streets. And we can always use you for free labour.

I'm really thinking about it! Honest!! (And thanks for asking me, babe!! I really appreciate it.) I just have to make up my mind and that'll be it (if you'll still have me, of course). It's just that I've been a bit depressed of late, and my bloody back is still giving me twinges. I wanted to see how 'stuff' went before saying yes.

So, when's a good time to come again? *glances at non-existent calendar*

Of course we'll have you! (But not in a pervy way. Or a 'for tea' way. Um.) However, taking care of back pain = more important. (If only just. *g*)

The Tour Down Under runs from 17-22 January. The tennis is on from 2-8 January. Cricket... well, it's spread throughout the month; there was usually a big match on the same weekend of the 'Scape barbeque in Sydney. Paddleboating: year-round. ;)

If you wanted to wait until later, Womadelaide is usually in March. Don't think the Festival/Fringe is on next year, alas.

Hee! I'm not into cricket (we lose to often!) but my families enthusiam rubbed off for this match. We've been down in Devon on our hols (the rest of the folks still are, it's just me who's back), although we actually live half an hour from Edgbaston!

My Dad had a radio plugged into his ear for half the time and I really, really though we'd lost the plot several times. On my drive back up this morning a sports bulletin said the Aussies were 5 runs away from winning. And I totally thought we'd had it.

But no! LOL. We win and Flinty gets man of match. According to the commentators it's been a fantastic few days cricket.

Well, your dad's braver than me, because to tell you the truth, I couldn't bear to watch it. It was too nerve-wracking. I kept flicking over from the film I was watching to see how they were doing, and everytime I flicked across the Aussies were hitting fours. So, it was a bit of a surprise to find out the English had actually won. Wheee!

I go for Australia in just about everything else but cricket. I really think the universe is seriously out of whack if England's cricket prowress goes down the tubes. :DD

Heh, I've never understood the whole sports fan thing - I just don't really get into sports.
(although, strangely enough, after watching a certain film, athletics suddenly became a lot more appealing.....;DDD)

But you're happy and that makes me happy.
:D
